The Spanish Phrygian is used for dominant 7 chords when that chord is the third of the key. The Aeolian Harmonic Minor goes with minor major 7th chords, when that chord is the relative minor of the key. Memorize each individual pattern, to be able to play each of them starting from any note on your bass.
Like in the Major Modes, you are not limited to one octave when you are using the modes. This lesson shows the positions relating to each mode. You will notice also that the Ionian Harmonic Minor and the Locrian Harmonic Minor modes are the same position pattern, as well as the Spanish Phrygian and the Lydian Harmonic Minor modes.
